neither have i man it's a weird place. but sometimes i get linked to it and i remember there is a WHOLE WORLD of popular music out there that i just don't care about. but some of it can be good!

Blake makes some shitty music but is a surprisingly nice guy. Haven't met Jef yet but I might sometime over the next few weeks...intrigued to see how he is in person.

judd may be a nice guy but is also a typical shithead, making public comment questioning the "credibility" of somebody claiming to have survived sexual assault... using his high profile to contribute to the bullshit culture of victim blaming...

nachtmystium has really always sucked, new leviathan could be good, and just for the record, that first Twilight LP w/ whitehead, judd, imperial, malefic.... really fucking bad. i bought it a few years ago when i was pretty into leviathan and have been wanting to unload it since. maybe in a few years when some of these higher-profile USBM bands are even more popular w/ a new crop of high school age black metal fans i'll be able to sell it for $$$$$

I don't really disagree with you in terms of nachmysticum sucking or twilight sucking or culture of victim blaming, but I think on the other hand its worth remembering we don't really have any information on the assault at this point, so assuming guilt isn't helpful either. If Judd is telling the truth then he is just doing what most people would do, sticking up for a friend in the public arena. I personally can't see how she could hae faked the charges, assuming that their is medical evidence to back it up. If there's anyone I dislike most in the whole thing its the black metal fans who like listening to music they think is dangerous because of the violent crimes committed by a minority, but simultaneously can't accept that Wrest may be a rapist.

i think the distinction i'm trying to make isn't to point fingers or assign blame, but to point out how the ability of men to make public statements like judd's only silences other survivors of sexual assault. I guess I'm always really frustrated when cases of sexual assault/rape get publicity because peoples' questions are always "is he innocent? is he guilty?" instead of "why do people keep getting assaulted? what can we do to make sure this shit doesn't happen, and when it does that we can handle it without further traumatizing people?" So really, i don't care what "really happened." i don't know these people, and don't demand that artists follow my standards of ethics. but i don't think that any outcome would make statements like judd's acceptable/useful. if his bro is innocent, we can wait for the verdict and everybody will know that this person is a "lying crazy bitch" and a "fucking whore" or whatever and we'll know to boycott HER black metal records.
